It was our first trip to Egypt.
I emailed back and forth with Miriam a lot. She was very patient and always responsive. In fact I have recommended this tour company to my mother, who plans to visit Egypt with her friends.
Everything was very well organized and almost as planned. There were one or two small hiccups but Miriam listened to our concerns (as well as the guide in charge of the Aswan-Abu Simbel area, Hossam).
If you go, definitely ask for Zakaria in Cairo! He's the best!!! We enjoyed him the most out of the various tour guides we had with Miriam.
Secondly, we highly recommend meeting the Nubian 'escort' Mohamed and having dinner at his cousin's house. That dinner was one of the best meals we had in Egypt - delicious, extremely tender chicken.
Another thing Miriam recommended for us was the Old Cataract Hotel - our Nubian 'escort' Mohamed kindly told us Agatha Christie wrote Death on the Nile there - we couldn't pass up a chance to go and the afternoon tea there was really great. You may not be able to get in if you are wearing sneakers, though. One more note - do not buy the jewelry from the shop at the Old Cataract Hotel. It is overpriced and the rings will turn your fingers green. It is perfectly fine to buy the (probably glass) loose well-cut stones there, however.
The tour was a really good value as it was a private tour and included a balloon ride and a camel ride, not to mention the Pyramids and the Sphinx.
May I mention that anything you want to see, simply tell Miriam. She can include it in the tour and give you a final price which is very reasonable. Another great thing Miriam did is that she included the tip money list sheet in Egyptian pounds, the entrance fees for all the different possible attractions in Egyptian pounds, and finally a very nice phrase list of Egyptian phrases with the English pronunciation.
Also, the handing off between tour guides and drivers was usually seamless. We knew when we had to meet the driver.
May I also say the tour guides were all Egyptologists, except for the Nubian 'escort' who simply will 'escort' you around his village. After we realized this, things became much clearer.
The Egyptologists (and even the Nubian 'escort') were all very knowledgeable.
We are happy with our tour and we may return in the future to book a different tour with Miriam (hopefully we will be able to give 5 stars next time :).
And just a note for all travelers, my partner felt safe at all times in Egypt. We passed through many police checkpoints and each hotel we were part of was gated.
Enjoy your trip in Egypt!
